The location is popular for kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, swimming, and fishing. Picnic areas are found on the northwest end of the lake and at nearby Kelly Lake. Kelly Lake is open to non-motorized boating.

300-acre Lake Valley Reservoir is popular with kayakers because of its glassy morning water and beautiful setting. Water is drawn down severely in the fall.
