Boreal Ski Area

Donner Summit

Boreal stands alongside Interstate 80 virtually at the top of Donner Summit. The ski and snowboard resort has a base elevation of 7,200 feet and rises to 7,677 feet along the summit of Boreal Ridge. With aggressive snow-making, they are often the first resort to open for the season. Lighted slopes allow them to offer night skiing until 9:00 PM.

Their lifts include two quads, three triples, a double, a moving carpet, and another moving carpet at their tube park. The longest run is one mile. Boreal has 480 acres of terrain, with most of it geared toward intermediate skiers and boarders.

Terrain Parks

Boreal has 4 Terrain Parks:

  • Mini Shred - small rails, jumps, boxes, and a mini-pipe
  • Core Park - medium to large features and the awesome Superpipe along with the new jib line and jump line
  • Shred Park - a flowing park great for everyone, jib line, rhythm section
  • Bag Jump

Boreal has a separate Playland Tubing Park with groomed tubing lanes located at the far end of the parking lot. For more information about Playland Tubing Park, see Snow Play.

Lift Operation Hours: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
The resort closes at 4:00 PM when night skiing and boarding are not in operation.

Pay to Park

New this year, parking will be $20 per car on weekends and holidays (shown below) until 3 PM. Mid-week parking is free.
